Alan Speer
Alan got his start in radio as a volunteer at an AM station in Cheyenne in 1999. It was there he learned the basics of radio ranging from board operations, commercial production, news writing and much more. In 2002, he had to move back to his native Illinois. While there, he attended Broadcast Center in St. Louis to improve his radio skills. Upon graduation, he got a job at a country station in Farmington Missouri. That's where the real radio education began. Doing remotes, a TON of production and interviewing top country names on the air proved to be a great experience. After about a year and a half there, Al got the chance to come back to Cheyenne as a news guy at the station he originally volunteered for when he first started and jumped at the chance to come back to the area. When his present boss, Larry Proietti, started a country station as part of KRRR/KRAE, he knew that was the place for him. That was his chance to get back to playing music. He also discovered a great working relationship with Larry, R.J. Fox and Brooke Taylor, the current team in Kimball, Nebraska, strangely enough! Not only is this a GREAT bunch, but he gets to play the music he grew up with.......ROCK AND ROLL! Al says he seems to have found a rare combination.....having a job you love AND excellent co-workers.
When he's not playing D.J., Al likes playing his guitar, going bowling and kicking back with a cold one on the porch(not necessarily in that order! hee hee) |
